Steam Train Wedding – Amy & Matt

Perfect sunlight flooded the whole day on Amy and Matt’s beautiful Swanage wedding. Carefully planned and crafted in just 8 short months, the day was a triumph from beginning to end; beautifully melding a heady combination of vintage chic and a traditional English country wedding.

The radiant couple tied the knot for their Swanage wedding at the Town Hall, before leading their guests on foot to Swanage Steam Railway where ice creams and a ride on the historic steam train, delightfully ushered the party to the reception held at Harmans Cross Village Hall.
Bedecked in a perfusion on hand-grown, hand-picked local flowers, the venue was simply overflowing with vibrancy and happiness, helped along merrily by some exceptional food and alcohol. Summer and sunshine were everywhere, not least in the Bride’s yellow 1950’s lace ball gown, teamed with vintage style yellow sandals (and when necessary  a pair of yellow converse).

The handmade elements all accentuated the atmosphere and the love which the Bride and Groom had clearly poured into the preparations. Opulence on a shoestring, from the hand-tied bouquets to the gorgeous four-tiered white chocolate and raspberry wedding cake, meant that I was never without something artistic to photograph.

Music filled the air and provided a great talking point; guests were welcomed to the venue by live French Cafe music provided by talented relatives and then danced the night away to the extraordinary sounds of ‘Dream Themes’ who delighted everyone with their enthusiastic take on popular TV themes (the groom works in TV drama so there was a highly apt connection).

As a wedding photographer I was in my element; beautiful weather, beautiful location, beautiful people – what more could I possibly ask for? Amy and Matt, friends and family, all did an absolutely first rate job in creating an extremely joyous wedding day for everyone to thoroughly enjoy… including the photographer. A truly fantastic start to married life together – Congratulations Amy and Matt!
